HMM Algeciras left China with a record 19,621 TEU.


The South Korean shipping company HMM said that the largest container ship in the world, HMM Algeciras, left the port of Yantian on May 8 to Rotterdam after having loaded 19.621TEU on board.
HMM Algeciras, which is currently making its first maiden voyage, is the first of twelve 24,000 TEU class container ships under construction for HMM. The ship measures 399.9 meters long by 61 meters wide and has a nominal TEU capacity of 23,964, making it the largest container ship in the world.
In August 2019 MSC Gulsun left the port of Tanjung Pelepas in Malaysia with 19,574 TEU.
