It seems that the problem began on Microsoft Azure, the cloud computing platform for managing applications and services.
Microsoft system outages have occurred from the United States to Australia, Hong Kong, Spain, Germany, England and Italy to name a few.
Serious problems are reported in air transport: American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, United Airlines, Frontier Airlines have paused their flights. Departures are also stopped for Ryanair which reports problems during flight booking and check-in. Problems also in Paris and the UK railways.
Airports in Berlin, Paris, Amsterdam and Sydney have stopped operating.
Problems also at Israeli hospitals and telephone companies in Australia.
Many banking networks have encountered problems. The London Stock Exchange suffered interruptions and at the Italian Stock Exchange the index was calculated late and the service was subsequently restored.
The problem appears to have been caused by a bug in the Crowdstrike Cybersecurity system update. Crowdstrike’s CEO assures that the problem has been identified and isolated.
