Dubai-based port operator DP World has introduced the first automated gates at the NSIGT (Nhava Sheva International Gateway Terminal) in India.
The new gates utilize OCR (Optical Character Recognition) technology. This innovation marks the absolute debut of automated gates in the country’s port industry. The system processes individual transactions in less than three seconds. Consequently, waiting times at the NSIGT gate drop drastically from the current five minutes to less than sixty seconds.
According to the logistics operator, these automated gates will boost operational efficiency and overall port productivity. The system guarantees a continuous cargo flow and eliminates manual human-to-machine steps.
