We remind all shippers that for shipments to Australia, from January 2019, has been confirmed and strengthened, even on goods not considered at risk, the fumigation BMSM against the Asian bug.
It is mandatory to apply to suppliers certified and authorized by the Australian Ministry of Agriculture to carry out fumigation treatments for the elimination of Asian bugs on containers exported from Italy, Germany, France, USA, Russia, Greece, Hungary, Romania and Georgia. In order to allow an optimal execution of the treatment, it is necessary to separate the articles inside the container so as to allow a perfect distribution of the hot air inside the container and therefore of the treatment. If the cargo is not treated, the export terminals may refuse the cargo and order fumigation on site.

Hapag Lloyd states that treatment is mandatory for both complete and groupage containers. It is the responsibility of the customer/shipper to ensure that the Australian government’s instructions are followed and for all Special Cargo and Break Bulk fumigation certificates must be sent to customer service before the cargo is sent to the terminal.
We invite everyone to visit the Australian and New Zealand websites for more detailed information on effective treatments and cargo descriptions.
