Start-up incubator in the port of Rotterdam

An incubator of innovative start-ups in the port logistics sector will be created in the port of Rotterdam Smits (Port of Rotterdam Authority): “we want to be the smartest and most innovative port in the world”.

The Rotterdam Port Authority has launched an unprecedented initiative in the global port landscape. This is PortXL, an innovative start-up incubator with a programme of activities specifically focused on the port and industries related to the Dutch port of call. The new incubator is looking for new companies in the transport and logistics, energy, chemicals, refining and maritime transport sectors. Subscriptions, via www.portxl.org, will be open until 15 February 2016 and the programme will start the following month.

“With PortXL – it has explained the financial director of the Port of Rotterdam Authority, Paul Smits – we further strengthen the ecosystem face to the innovation of our port and we can discover start-ups. By connecting start-ups with leading companies, we bring them into an extensive network of experts in the field. With this project we attract more innovative activities to the region and show what our world-class port has to offer. After all, innovation is crucial,” Smits stressed. We want to be the smartest and most innovative port in the world.

The project, which will focus on ten sturt-ups, will collaborate with the Port Authority international companies such as EY, Cambridge Innovation Center / Venture Cafe, Van Oord, Erasmus Centre for Entrepreneurship, Heineken, Innovation Quarter, Rabobank Count / First Dutch, Vopak, Damen, E.ON and Boskalis.
